Edelweiss Flower

Edelweiss or Edelweiss Java, is known as the eternal flower. Edelweiss is a plant endemic zones alpina or montana in various high mountains of Indonesia. This plant can reach a maximum height of 8 meters. That flower is often used as a symbol of love, sincerity, sacrifice, and eternity. This plant is now categorized as rare plants, because edelweiss is difficult to be found. Edelweiss is also a pioneer plant in volcanic soils of the mountain forests. Edelweiss can live in a barren land, because edelweiss can make mycorrhizae.

In the summit of gunung Gede, Edelweiss flower can be found. This color of the flower is white-brown. They grow making a small leafly in above ground.  When we pick and save it in dry place so, edelweiss flower can’t change their color. Edelweiss will be still looking fresh.  Edelweiss  is still alive and it is eternal flower. So edelweiss become symbol of love.

The leaves are long, thin and hairy. The center color of the flower is yellow. Edelweiss can be propagated easily by cutting the branches. Edelwaiss grow to make a small blossom  in above ground. Edelweiss flower could reach more than 100 years old, that is called eternal flowers.
